Umberto Bombardelli was born in Milan (Italy). He studied Organ, Composition, Choir conducting and Gregorian Chant at the Ambrosian Pontifical Institute for Sacred Music, Milan. He graduated in Organ and Organistical Composition at the "G. Verdi" Conservatory in Milan, with Luigi Benedetti. He studied Composition with Pippo Molino and Niccolò Castiglioni. He also attended master classes in Computer Music with the teachers of CSC (Padua University, Italy).
He won several national competitions and was mentioned in some international ones.
His works were performed in Italy, Mexico, Finland, Holland, France, Spain, Sweden, Norway, USA, Canada, Russia, Khazakstan, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, Switzerland, China, Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay, Thailand, Japan.
Some of his compositions are recorded on CDs and broadcast by National Radio Societies.
His works were mentioned in important workshops in Italy and
Wales. His biography and list of works are present in important musicological
works issued in Italy during the last years.
In particular, in October 2008 the outstanding Italian guitarist Luciano Chillemi dedicated a large analytical work to the "7 Studies" for solo guitar.
In 2010 I was cited in the new book by Renzo Cresti Fare musica oggi: difficoltà e gioie, Del Bucchia Editore, Massarosa (LU).

Since 1993 to 2000 he was artistic director of the City Music School of Cinisello Balsamo (Italy). In the same year, he was appointed Honorary Professor by the State Conservatory "M.I.Glinka", Novosibirsk (Russia).
He was the person in charge of the International Relationships of the Italian Musical Academy "G. Marziali". He was the Artistic Director - since 2005 to 2015 - of the concert series Musica&Musiche, too.
During the season 2016-2017 he was composer in residence for the Italian Dèdalo Ensemble.
